New and used are separate evidence
Used · sold shows recorded GCSurplus sales. Used · dealers shows asking prices and quote-required stock from public Canadian dealer sources. Dealer references never enter sold-price ranges. New shows selected Canadian manufacturer starting prices, dealer asking prices and models requiring a quote. New references never enter a sold-price range, median or depreciation calculation. A new model does not imply zero kilometres or hours; unreported meters remain unknown.
New prices carry a source-checked date instead of a sale date. Model-family pages do not establish local stock availability. Confirm configuration, taxes, freight, setup, fees and incentives with the seller. Quote-required entries have no numeric price and are excluded by price limits. Manufacturer references have no province assigned; a province filter selects local dealer listings only.
Dealer references and source checks
Commercial trucks are separated by advertised configuration: semi sleepers, logging trucks, dump bodies, vocational day cabs and heavy-duty pickups. A shared chassis model does not establish a shared body or value. We retain bundle, repair and pricing disclosures. Unknown odometer units are not assumed to mean kilometres.
Some references were reviewed through publicly indexed dealer pages or dated specification PDFs. Their source access note is shown in the record and export. The checked date means research review, not a dealer confirmation of current stock. We publish selected facts and original comparison notes, not dealer photographs or copied listing descriptions. No paid data feed was used.
What the range means
The observed sold-price range is the minimum to maximum recorded sold amount among eligible records matching your filters. The median is the middle price (or average of the two middle prices for an even count). This is a descriptive sample range, not a statistically calibrated prediction interval or current fair-market appraisal.
How records qualify
- The make and a specifically reviewed model identifier must match exactly after removing punctuation and case.
- The source sale must be no more than 36 months old at the time of the query. The available source files currently end on December 31, 2025.
- Detected parts, repair, export, multi-unit and attachment-bundle flags exclude a record from the range. Excluded records remain visible for context.
- At least three records must remain. All active filters narrow the range sample. Year, kilometre and hour limits remove records with missing values for that field; price limits also restrict the displayed range and should be used with care.
Three is a minimum display rule, not proof of statistical reliability. Every displayed range is labelled as limited-confidence historical evidence. Model identity is reviewed for a limited set of models; other inventory remains searchable without generating a range.
Trucks, trailers and mileage
Truck and trailer records are available as individual reference sales. Automatic ranges are withheld in this release: body style, axle setup, drive type, engine, capacity and trailer dimensions are not consistently standardized. A shared model name or trailer type alone does not make two assets equivalent.
Kilometres are imported only from explicit odometer or mileage labels, parenthesized meter readings, or a paired hour/distance reading in source text. Tyre wear, service intervals and road speeds are not odometer readings. Reported miles are converted using 1 mile = 1.609344 km, with the original reading retained. Readings are not independently verified; missing values remain unknown. Trailers have no mileage values in this release.
What we do not adjust
No automatic discount or premium is applied for hours, maintenance, condition, options, geography, taxes, fees, inflation or elapsed time. Hours are shown only when explicitly available in the imported text. Missing hours are never filled in. Operating condition is unverified, even where no issue flag was detected.
Why surplus is a distinct market
Government disposals may involve as-is sales, limited inspection, unusual configurations, storage or transport costs. They do not represent the entire dealer, private-sale, wholesale or retail market. An auction sale does not automatically establish forced-liquidation value.
Cleaning and traceability
We select equipment from six half-year CSV files, screen out obvious accessories and unrelated items, normalize selected make/model labels and flag issues from titles and available item descriptions. Exact duplicates by title, price, date and location are removed. Without a persistent machine identifier, repeated sales cannot always be detected.
Each displayed record links to the official source ZIP and identifies its CSV record number. The original title and sold amount remain visible. Contact names, phone numbers, emails and street addresses are not imported into the public dataset.
Appropriate use
Use these records as a starting point for negotiation and research. For financing, insurance, tax, legal or significant purchase decisions, establish the required basis of value and obtain professional inspection or appraisal as needed.
